Incense Smoker Chef
A cheerful chef comes to life behind a small stove. Dressed in a crisp white chef’s coat with brown buttons, he pairs it with a tall white hat and a blue-and-white checkered neckerchief. His round wooden face features a small mustache, rosy cheeks, and an open mouth that serves as the smoke outlet.
In one hand, he confidently holds a pipe that releases the incense smoke, while in the other he raises a wooden spoon as if preparing a hearty dish. In front of him stands a detailed miniature stove topped with kitchen essentials: a metal pot with lid, a pan filled with browned sausages, a bowl of eggs, and a rolling pin.
Resting on a smooth natural wood base, the figure blends painted details with warm wood tones. Altogether, this lively kitchen scene beautifully reflects the craftsmanship and storytelling tradition of Erzgebirge folk art.
KWO Kunstgewerbe-Werkstätten Olbernhau GmbH began in 1949 as a small craft workshop producing turned wooden parts. Today, it is one of the largest manufacturers of traditional Erzgebirge wooden art. The company’s range reflects the full richness of Erzgebirge craftsmanship. Above all, KWO products are known for outstanding quality, refined design, and careful attention to detail. Because of this, collectors and discerning buyers have valued and cherished KWO creations for decades.
Tradition Since 1949
Each piece begins with natural wood. Then, through skilled craftsmanship, it is shaped into a small work of art. Our toy makers create every figure with care and precision. For decades, our Olbernhau workshops have preserved the traditions of Erzgebirge craftsmanship. At the same time, many of our collectible pieces awaken treasured childhood memories. This emotional connection makes them truly special. Ultimately, our work is a tribute to all friends, admirers, and collectors. It ensures that the joy of “wooden art with heart” from the Kunstgewerbe-Werkstätten Olbernhau lasts a lifetime.
